..read full story
(Russian Version)
Read full story..

So now this next section we’ll discuss It’s chatuh shloki. The chatuh shloki are the essential four shlokis of the Vedas. When Krishna taught the Vedas to Brahma then having studied them then he asked Krishna what is the essence. So Krishna gave these four verses to Lord Brahma. later Brahma gave those to Narada and then Narada gave them to Vyasa. So it has been written the Mahabharata with the idea of creating the conclusion of the Vedic literature. Then, Narada Muni was not so impressed. He felt that it felt short because it may have given all the basic and such knowledge of the Vedas but it didn’t actually give the essential understanding of the Vedas. So Vyasadeva was then given these four verses and from that he expanded the Srimad Bhagavatam. So the Srimad Bhagavatam is the conclusion of all the Vedic literatures, and we see Prabhupada always mentions that, he wrote it in his maturity. So in his maturity then that he put this together. So the Bhagavatam is the essence of the Vedic literatures. The four shlokis are the basis on which the Bhagavatam is written…read full story
“Progressing in Spiritual Life” seminar given by HH. Bhaktividya Purna Swami at ISKCON Brisbane in 2011
Yesterday we were discussing the concept that the material world is a reflection of the spiritual world. That reflection is based on our material desire which we hear all the time, it’s fine. But the important element is in applying that knowledge, and this is where things become confusing. We talk about the spiritual world and Krishna and the cowherd boys and the gopis and everything’s fine. We talk about how the material world is a place of misery and this and that nonsense and it’s fine. But when we talk about the material world actually functioning on the same principles as the spiritual world, but that you don’t get the spiritual results unless you think of Krishna (only get the material results)if you follow the principles as laid down in the spiritual world then we have a serious problem. Because in our mind, there’s spiritual and there’s material and it’s a matter of an activity. This doesn’t mean that whatever activity we’re doing, as long as we think of Krishna it’s spiritual and if we don’t think of Krishna it’s material; there’s a big difference, and this one point makes the whole difference between whether your life progresses or not. (Russian Version)
Read full story..

One thing that’s very clear is the relationship between endeavor and result. You do something and then you get a result. The first point is that no results come without an endeavor. There is this idea that by doing nothing, or by giving minimal effort, we will get some amazing results, and that’s false. If you just buy this one kind of deodorant and walk down the street then 10-20 girls will come running after you. Does that make sense? But if you really think about it, you have your house, you have plenty of money, you dress nicely, you’re socially situated, and it’s still hard to get even one woman to run after you. Despite that, they’ll present that you simply have to buy this can of deodorant. Why that works is another topic: the first potency of Maya. Maya has two potencies, the covering and the throwing. Covering means that whatever situation you’re in you’ll think “I can enjoy this situation”. When you accept that, she applies the second potency and throws you in a situation where you’re miserable but because you still think “I’m going to enjoy this” from the first situation, you don’t complain. That’s how she works…. Read full story..

Today we’ll continue with the questions. May be you have anything you feel relevant to our topic what we discussed or how to applicate these kinds of things that would make anything more useful or you have some ideas you would like to perceive with that.
Emotional Exchange
The concept is that everybody according to their varna has a particular way in which they work best and feel the most comfortable. But as there is anything, because when you’re dealing with the religious principles there’s a restriction, so the freedom is given where it will give rights to the manifestation of the best part of the nature and the restrictions are given where that will control your undesirable parts .If it’s done properly then you can get a proper blend of social interaction that works. The problem comes when somebody’s nature, the bad side comes out and the good side is repressed or misused. Then you have a problem… read full story

The whole concept of Vedic leadership starts with the principle of self-realization. The information you will be presented with is not technically different from what you have possibly encountered since your association with Krishna consciousness. The difference is that it will be seen, not just in the light of philosophy, but in a way that practically applies to your life. Not just something to think about but as something that you use. The idea is that you will understand how to take any aspect of the philosophy that you are reading and apply it in day to day life because that is where leadership happens- in day to day life, not elsewhere. Leadership means that you do things and others take inspiration from it. So it is a very personal thing and a very practical thing.
If you have the leadership course; on page 16 in the middle we define leadership. In the middle of the page there are two quotes from Srila Prabhupada- “Leader means first class disciple- Evam Parampara Praptam” and “Guru Mukha Padma Vakya, Ara Na Kariha Mane Asa- To follow the order of the bona fide guru; this is leader.”
Leadership is a further stage of realization. The ISKCON movement is meant for self-realization and not for anything else. All other aspects are for engaging yourself in Krishna’s service, but the point is for you to realize who you are. If you can realise who you are then you can realise who others are. When you realise who others are then only can you lead. The difficulty in the aspect of leadership is that it is taken for granted that you are just going to manage people. That you are going to be in charge and that is leadership. But that is not actually leadership. Leadership means that you are doing something that others can follow. Managing is not leadership. Leadership is person to person. You are doing something because you are inspired and you can inspire others. That is leadership. Otherwise, management simply means that you are clever at organizing the material energy so that you can get some observable result…. read full story
